Follow these steps morning and night.
1. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.
2. Flush the entrance and exit holes of your piercing with a pre-packaged sterile saline.
3. Remove any crust or debris that has formed with a saline soaked piece of non-woven gauze.
4. Gently pat dry with a non-woven gauze after your piercing gets wet for any reason (shower, saline, sweat etc.)
Once daily, at the end of your shower, allow the water to run over the piercing. This will help to soften/loosen any crust that may be stuck around the area and ensure that any soap or shampoo that has accidentally got on the piercing is flushed away.
The majority of piercings require a downsize once the inital swelling has subsided. Most ear piercings are 4-6 weeks, and most oral piercings are 2-4 weeks. Leaving the downsize too long can cause moderate to severe damage to the piercing and surrounding tissue. These downsize times can vary depending on climate and other external factors.
